The car was an old Rover SD1 and used coffee grounds salvaged from local shops was used to power the car.

This is just another way to recycle your coffee grounds from pot to gardens to cars. This is not new news but it reinforces that idea of something in coffee makes you a happy person, jut like chocolate. Now there's a great mixture, chocolate coffee.

Albert Ascherio of Harvard School of Public Health headed the research team that studied a group of women for 14 years dating back to 1976 and measured their coffee consumption during that period. They classified the women according to how much coffee they drank and followed them for an additional 10 years. That is a very long time and I really have to hand it to the team for do this for 24 years.
The team studied more than 50,000 women enrolled in a health study of nurses. The women had an average age of 63, and none were depressed when they enrolled in the study.

The conclusion of the studies are as followed

1.Women who drink four cups of coffee a day are 20% less likely to become depressed than women who rarely drink coffee.

2. Women who were in the top fifth of the overall caffeine consumption, chocolate and soft drinks also had a 20% lower risk of depression that the bottom fifth.

Known Facts

Caffeine is the most popular central nervous system stimulant in the world, and coffee consumption accounts for about 80 percent of caffeine use. Drinking coffee offers a boost of energy for a short time, so in order to maintain the natural 'HIGH' more coffee must be drunken. Maybe that is why most coffee drinkers love their coffee first thing in the morning and one in mid morning. It is cheaper that the energy boost drinks!

Ascherio said there have been very few studies that look at the long-term effects of coffee consumption. One smaller study in Finland showed men who drank a lot of coffee were less likely to commit suicide.
And Ascherio's own team has shown that drinking a lot of coffee may be protective against Parkinson's disease in both men and women. He said it is not yet clear how coffee might protect against depression, but there are some hints.

Animal studies have shown that caffeine protects against certain neurotoxins and brain receptors that respond to caffeine are concentrated in the basal ganglia, an area that is important for both depression and Parkinson's disease.

Final Conclusion

      Drink coffee..........Eat chocolate..................enjoy your day!
But remember to eat and drink in moderation or the pounds will show and you will be bouncing off the walls!

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; Around the world, coffee shops are open and the one person who makes sure that each customer's day starts off right is the Barista. They comes in and work on providing the highest coffee drink quality to their customers. The sad reality of this person is that some coffee shop owners do not realize the value of their talents and pay as little as possible. They look at the bottom line of the day's recipts as a check of success or failure and then there are those who look at their employees and what they offer to the customers as a check of success or failure.

StarBucks Coffee is one corporation that seems to believe in the first check and not the second. They took a stand against their employee and I hope them did well. They have unionized in that country and I have to say that this is a good think for workers in this area of service. I am not a big fan of unionized labor but in some area of the work world you need this in order to make a decent living wage. I have to appland some Baristta's in the states that staged a 1 or 2 days strike in order to bring to light what StarBucks Coffee is doing in Chile. the coffee trade and Kraft, Nestle and Ecom Agroindustrial Corp. Ltd have send out teams of coffee buyers to 'woo' the small farm coffee producers to sell their coffee directly to them instead of going through the proper channels of the cooperative. Cooperatives were formed years ago in order to have the small farmers to pool their coffee and to give them a bigger say at the bargaining table and a higher price for coffee. Now. with the demand for coffee at a historical high because of increased demand( China, India) and back-to-back poor harvests in Central and South American, the big guns have come into the farms and offer to pay cash on the spot and at higher prices. These companies for years played by the rules of the cooperatives like the rest of the smaller buyers but when they see that they may have to actually compete for coffee, they changed the rules of play. The cooperatives is a stable entry of business for the coffee farmers and they are there in good times and bad times to work with them.
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; Hopefully the coffee farmers will wise up and see that a long term relationship with the cooperatives is better than a one night stand with the multinationals.

FYI: Coffee per pound has increase $1.50 to $2.00 in six months. There are a few reasons why and we probably all now that when the cost of fuel increases so does everything else that is tied to fuel cost. We in the states have enjoyed low prices at the pump for a long time and cheap goods. The other side of the world, Europe and Asia have been living with high fuel prices based upon their monetary environment for a long time, so this is not new to them, but a kick in the pocket for us.
StarBucks announced in late May that they will be increasing their coffee and coffee drinks by 17% in the United States and 6% in Canada. A pound of good coffee was $7.50 and now it varies from 9.50 to 11.50(decaf) depending on the roaster. But we love our coffee so much, we have not decreased our consumption at this time but it may slow down later this year. If Brazil or the African(Ethopia or Kenya) coffee farmers have a low harvest and the demand for coffee continues to increase in the developing nations of China and India, don't be surprise if the cost of a latte is $7.00.

Now is the best time to invest in a burr coffee grinder and make your coffee in the comfort of your home with fresh roasted coffee and remember fresh roasted coffee is roasted and sold within days of the roast and not weeks of the roast. One pound of coffee make 70-80 cups of 6oz. of coffee.

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RwZndFFx9AI/S-oGyAnTmBI/AAAAAAAAADY/DnAd3rCvTcs/s1600/BGC4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; Some of the big coffee companies have already increased their coffee prices three times during the past year. There are other smaller companies that have not raised their prices but getting pretty close to doing so. Don't be surprise to see your favorite coffee shop pries increase 5 to 10 cents. You can only hold the line on prices for so long before making a lost.

Numerous nations are struggling to sustain their coffee crops while demand keeps rising. As a result, inventories have fallen to their lowest levels since the International Coffee Organization (ICO) started tracking this data in the 1960s. Over the past three years, Columbia largely drove the rally in the coffee market . It suffered from a string of bad crops, partly due to heavy rains and partly due to its program to replant coffee trees. Coffee trees do not live forever and replanting will ensure continuous supply of good quality coffee.
Meanwhile, Mexico is suffering a bad crop due to low temperatures and Brazil, the world’s top coffee exporter, could have a small harvest of low quality beans as well. Most industry insiders say Arabica bean coffee prices are headed to at least $3 a pound.

Don't forget that BlackGold coffee company has NOT raised its prices on roasted or green coffee beans. The bad weather in the Indonesian coffee region and in Colombian region has pushed the demand for these regional coffees up. Another factor in the coffee market this year is the increase demand of coffee in two developing countries, China and India. More people are able to afford coffee in these countries and this has increased the demand of coffee. You will probably notice a cost increase for Colombian coffee as much as $1.00 per lb. The Indonesian coffee as well is on its way up as much at 1.00 per lb. Just like anything in the commodity markets, if the demand increases and the supply decreases, prices go up. Hopefully next year it will become more stable ( weather wise) for these two regions and coffee prices will go down.

Even with the price increase, it is still a good purchase to order fresh roast coffee and enjoy the rich, fresh taste of fresh, ground coffee. Explore and find out if this a true taste of the coffee for you. Many people are distanced away from certain coffee when they read a review and never question why. Coffee is good for you!

There are few health benefits that are associated with coffee. At the same time, there are many health risks with it. Let’s keep the health risks aside for a moment and let’s check one more proved health benefit of drinking coffee.
According to the scientists, a cup of sugar sweetened coffee a day could boost your brain performance. They believe that the consumption of caffeine and sugar at the same time could supercharge the brain functions. A team of scientists from University of Barcelona, Spain, has conducted some series of tests on the combined effect of caffeine and sugar. This team studied the brain scan reports of 40 study takers who were divided into four groups. All the four groups were asked to take sweetened coffee, coffee without sugar, sugar on its own and just plain water.

After analyzing the reports, the scientists have come to a conclusion that the combined effect of caffeine and sugar did boost the two key areas of brain which are responsible for “attention and working memory” by consuming little resources. (comparatively)

So a cup of sweetened coffee in the morning could prepare your brain well for a busy day ahead!

If you aren’t a fan of sweetened coffee, you can still get this benefit by taking a sugary snack along with your cup of coffee.

Source: Human Psychopharmacology: Clinical and Experimental (Journal)

<span style="color: blue; Tea Shops This Holiday Season

Most of us are enjoying the cool fall weather and planning to venture out for holiday shopping. Most of us will pass a StarBucks, SeattleBest or another corporate franchise coffee shop in our area of shopping. While these shops offer good sweet coffee drinks remember to support your locally own and operated coffee & tea shops in your area. These shops offer great coffee and tea drinks that can match up to the corporate shops. These shops are owned by local people like you and during this time of a low economic recovery, your local businesses are more at risk of closing down than the big bucks coffee shops owned by corporations.

Now.... I am not saying that all locally owned and operated coffee & tea shops are good; there are good ones and there are bad ones, but think about where your money will go after you hand it over to the cashier, back into your community or out of your area.

During this holiday season, think of visiting your local coffee & tea shop, stop in and enjoy a quiet hour or so with a good cup of coffee or tea.
The conclusion has been based on the marked improvement that coffee has on the elasticity of the arteries, helping to prevent their ageing and thereby warding off potential heart disease.

During the scientific investigation, those participants that drank one to two cups of coffee per day demonstrated greater elasticity in their arteries than those who consumed little or no coffee at all. The almost 500 people involved were between the ages of 65 and 100, had diagnosed high blood pressure and were inhabitants of “longevity island” – a small Greek island, Ikaria, where a reported third of people live to reach their centennial birthday.
The island has apparently been a sought after destination for health conscious tourists for a number of years, due to its hot springs fabled for their alleged benefits on joint and skin conditions. This has been supported by the viewpoint of modern day experts who claim that the Mediterranean diet, involving olive oil, local honey and herbal teas, also has a strong part to play in ensuring optimal health, particularly cardiac health.

Since coffee is such a widely consumed commodity in Greece, the Athens-based researchers have turned their attention to the link between coffee and longevity, with their results showing a positive correlation at one to two cups per day.
www.blackgoldcoffeecompany.com

Coffee Bean Chronicles - Coffee prices may rise in a coffee shop near you!

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; The good, old, basic economic principle of supply and demand game. They can not hold out for a long time because their competitors in the market, Colombia, Mexico, Costa Rica as well as the African coffee communities will have an open door to sell more coffee.

The coffee that you are buy at your coffee shop has nothing to do with the market because there is a good chance that the coffee was purchased before the price game. Coffee price games have been going on for a short time and if the price of coffee stays at a high level for 6 months or more than maybe the cost of a cup of coffee will be 5 cent more.

For the coffee shop owners... there is REALLY no true excuse to raise the cost of a cup of coffee now or within the next 6 to 8 months. Let's be fair about this... the price of preparing a cup of regular coffee is around 7 cents and maybe 10 cents for the mocha, latte, double whip cream and chocolate hit coffee. In my opnion, coffee prices should NOT rise unless the greed factor is involved.

Best prices on fresh roasted coffee and green coffee beans for the home roaster community:BlackGold Coffee Company

Enjoy your coffee and your day!

Deanna, Morning Cupper
www.blackgoldcoffeecompany.com

Coffee Beans Chronicles - The smooth taste of Indoesnia Sumatra Lintong

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; I finished roasting a large amount of Sumatra Lintong as a medium roast and had some left over to enjoy. Indonein coffee is not brass and bold as South American coffee but it is balanced and rich coffee. I made myself a mug and did 2 scoops for 6 oz. in the french press. The coffee was goof but a little bit too strong for me. I added a cube of sugar and cream and it was wonderful. The sugar seemed to bring out the smooth, sweet taste of the coffee and cream added to lip smacking richness. It was heaven. This coffee tasted better as it cool down and it really exploring with rich taste within 5 minutes of the brew.

The lesson I learned is if the coffee is too strong, add sugar and/or cream to bring it to your level of enjoyment. Great coffee.... one of the best of the Asian/African coffee community.
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; Most weddings have the one thing in common and that is the reception. This is the time where everyone eats, drinks and becomes very merry into the wee hours of the night. To change the 'same old reception' add a coffee bar and have alcoholic and non-alcoholic coffee drinks along side the wet bar. This is becoming a popular item and something that everyone may need before the drive home!

1. Coffee stimulates conversation and camaraderie. Think about some of the fantastic discussions you've had with friends while drinking a latte or frozen mochaccino at your favorite coffee house.

2. Espressos, cappuccinos and other specialty coffee drinks are elegant. A specialty coffee bar adds sophistication and flair to your event.

3. A specialty coffee bar says you care about your guests. The plain ol' cup of joe served at most receptions can't compare to drinks prepared to order by a trained barista.

4. A coffee bar is a great addition to regular bar service. For those guests who need some sobering up, there's nothing better than a double espresso to do the trick before you send them on their way.

5. Think "affordable luxury" when you hire a specialty coffee caterer. In most cases, an hour or two of unlimited service costs less than you spend on an amazing wedding cake.

6. "Your guests expect good coffee." Quality coffee is not a fad.

7. The inclusion of specialty coffee is seen as a healthy and socially responsible. Many folks are seeking out non-alcoholic beverage alternatives.

8. Offering a coffee bar in lieu of an alcohol bar may reduce your insurance costs at the reception facility. Check with your wedding planner or banquet coordinator.

9. Create buzz about your event like no other service can, literally. Leave a lasting impression on your guests.

10. Coffee drinks can be customized to reflect the theme of your event. From naming a drink after the bride and groom to adding a custom monogram, specialty coffee can be personalized to wow your guests.

Remember..... for the best fresh roasted coffee and green beans for the home coffee roaster, there is only one place: http://www.blackgoldcoffeecompany.com/

Enjoy the rest of the summer and a good cup of coffee....

Deanna
The Morning Cupper
www.blackgoldcoffeecompany.com

Coffee Beans Chronicles - HOT August days are ahead

We are finally nearing the end of a hot and humid summer in the south and I will be happy when I can walk the dogs before sunset! One thing tht is very important during these days and not to let yourself get dehydrated. Coffee and tea can dehyrated you and with the hot weather among us, drinking too much coffee or tea and not enough water may do you more harm than good.

Now... At the same time, the constellation, Sirus the Dog can be viewed next to the sun; thus the Dogs Days of Summer. The Dog Days of Summer is from July 3 thru August 11.
The heat is hot these days and the best way to enjoy your coffee is with ice cream. Free roasted coffee mixed with vanilla ice cream is fantastic. I have found that Brazil Santos, bold roast and Tanzania Peaberry, medium roast, ground in equal amount is a good blend with vanilla ice cream. The fresher the coffee the better with this recipe. I ground the coffee very fine as if I am making Turkish or espresso coffee. Place a few scoops of vanilla ice cream in a mixing bowl, add the coffee and mix it until the ice cream has a medium brown color, add more or less to suit your taste.
Oh.... add some chocolate syrup also and the ice cream explores with coffee and chocolate! I freeze my coffee, if I have any left over and enjoy it over peaches!

So... buy your coffee roasted fresh and remember BlackGold Coffee Company always roast coffee per order to guaranteed freshness.
Visit the website for specials and great prices: http://www.blackgoldcoffeecompany.com/

Live one day at a time and enjoy it.

Morning Cupper,
Ah, yes.. in the morning it is still the best way to start the day with a good cup of hot coffee but as the day progress, so does the temperature! When it is 90 degrees or hotter and you have been working outside it is always a good idea to drink plenty of ice water but when you are finished and enjoying the fruits of your daily labor; sit down, put your feet up and and enjoy a tall glass of ice coffee. Ice coffee can be as fancy or plain as you like it. I prefer ice coffee over vanilla ice cream and crushed ice. It is like a coffee slurpee but with ice cream. AH!!! It is so good. Some may like ice coffee with chocolate syrup and crushed ice. Mmmmmmmmmmm..... that is so good and it cools you down fast.

It is easy to make ice coffee and anyone can do it. Make a pot of your favorite non-flavored coffee. Flavored coffee does not taste as good cold( my opinion). Pour the coffee in a glass or plastic pitcher and place it in the refrigerator for a 2-4 hours. A good time to make the coffee is in the morning, so it is ready when you are in the afternoon or evening.

Add you favorite sweeter, syrup. ice cream or just drink it straight with cream. It is a great summer drink!

Enjoy your coffee and your summer!

Check out our website for great coffee prices We have slashed our roasted and green bean coffee prices because our cost have fallen! border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">The thought of drinking decaf. coffee makes some people's nose turn up and back off a little. The thought of a cup of coffee with very little caffeine is unheard of for many but the awful aftertaste would make people run for the hills. Most people who drink decaf. coffee are required to drink non-caffeine drinks due to various health reasons and one of them is breast cancer.

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; It is totally impossible with our current processes of decaffeinating. There are three major ways to decaffeinated coffee. The chemical process is probably the cheapest and the taste of the coffee tells all! If you like the taste of chemicals in your month, go for it. I prefer the Swiss Water process. It does not use chemicals and it may be more expensive that the chemical process but the taste is better and acceptable. The new kid on the block is the CO-2 process. This process removes 99% of the caffeine, just like the other two processes but the beans are not as cooked, thus the coffee beans are not as dark.

I looked into this and did some test roasting of coffee beans of CO-2 and Swiss Water process. The CO-2 beans were lighter in color that the Swiss Water but the end results was extremely close.

The taste of both batches of beans, bold and medium roast were the same. I could not taste any difference. The difference is the way the beans are roasted. Since the beans are semi-cooked due the decaffeinated process, the roasting time is slower and shorter.

Good decaf coffee is fantastic and if the coffee beans are roasted right and grind to a medium texture( sand between your fingers), you will enjoy a great cup of coffee and probably will not miss the high-octane coffee.

Afternoon is the good time for decaf coffee for many. You get some caffeine, the great smooth, rich taste of coffee and you don't have to worry about staying up all night!!

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; This has been a cold and long winter for all and I hope you have enjoyed the strong balanced South American coffees during these months of winter. When I think of winter, I think of comfort food and South American coffees because the two represent the bold, rich, warmth of sitting in front of a fire or enjoying the friendship of a few during the winter evenings.
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; The African and Asian coffees remind of of spring and summer, lighter in taste yet they hold the same outstanding richness of the South Americans. They do not have the heavy body as their couisins across the sea but they are equal in richness and taste. Start your spring by tasting the lighter body coffee and expand your horizon of coffees today. You never know what you are missing if you don't explore today!

Ethiopian Yirgatheffe, Tanzania Highland Peaberry, Indian Monsoon Malbar, the Indonesia twins, Sumatra Lintong and Sulawesi are just a few that have a rich coffee taste but a lighter body.
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; I mix my grounds with the soil around my roses and they love it. If you are a tea drinker, do the same with the tea bags. The tea is nitrogen-rich and a boost to the compost pile. I have a small compost pile and the worms seems to sniff it out because when I place my coffee grounds in the pile with some leaves or cabbage leaves, it is packed with worms within a month

If you are not going to feed your compost pile or plants with your coffee grounds after making coffee, store them is a glass plastic container in the refrigrator for a few weeks. Just make sure they are cool when you store them.

On that note.... enjoy your coffee, enjoy your day and enjoy your garden.
Check out our website for store coffee specials, information and great prices.
We sell green coffee beans to home roasters as well as fresh roasted coffee!

Deanna
Morning Cupper
http://www.blackgoldcoffeecompany.com/
www.blackgoldcoffeecompany.com

Coffee Bean Chronicles - Coffee New Perks for Cancer Prevention

<img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; Brew your coffee with a French press instead of your old way. If you have not tried this method of making coffee, you are in for something fantastic in taste, easy to clean and not expensive.

For single or two person households, this is a perfect match for a cup of coffee in the morning without a lot of fuss and time. It is a fast, convenient way of making a good cup of coffee. You can buy French Press coffee makers for 1 to 8 cups, multiple colors or plain glass and thermal. This is great way to entertain your guests when you have a small group and wish to serve fresh coffee fast. French Press coffee makers has been around for years and are becoming more common.

We, Americans are big drip coffee drinkers for a long time but I feel this year is the year that not only the use of the French Press for coffee making will be greatly increase in the household but coffee shops will embrace this as a single table server for their customers. What a better way to serve hot, fresh coffee!

Here are some tips on making a good cup of coffee using the French Press.

1. Grind your coffee to a medium/fine texture(sand texture). Remember the finer the grind the less amount of coffee to use. Experiment to find your level of grind texture. There is no such thing of a perfect grind. People's taste are different and so are their coffee grind!

2. Scoop 1.5 to 2 teaspoons of coffee per cup into the French Press.

3. Heat your water to boiling and fill the French Press to the full cup level mark. Less water in the French Press produces stronger coffee.

4. Put the French Press plunger on the top of the grounds and let it brew for 4 minutes. When 4 minutes have arrived, gently and slowly press the plunger down to the bottom of the press and let it sit there for a few seconds. You will noticed that the coffee is settling down.

5. Reward yourself with a good cup of fresh coffee. Refrigerate any leftover coffee for later.

I enjoy a bold roast of Brazil Santos or medium roast of India Monsoon Malabar.

Remember to choose your coffee and experiment to find your perfect cup.

Sincerely, The Morning Cupper

Deanna

Visit our website for the best prices for green beans and fresh roasted coffee!http://www.blackgoldcoffeecompany.com/

www.blackgoldcoffeecompany.com

Coffee Beans Chronicles - Winter Season Warmers

Winter is here in full force and in some areas of the world, it is a lion! This is the best season to slow down the pace of your life, enjoy your friends, family, and good comfort food. I think coffee is one of the best comfort food that one can enjoy. It is simple, yet complex. It can be serve with an assortment of sugar, milk, cream, cinnamon, spices from the east or thick, black and strong(Turkish coffee). There is no proper time to drink coffee, for it is an anytime drink. It is one of the most universal food we have to enjoy and so many ways to enjoy it. You can drink, bake and cook with it. You can feed your plants with the coffee grounds after you have finished your brew (recycle 101 - jack up your plants with caffeine!).

Home Roasters can take time to experiment with roasting a blend of coffee beans for their own signature and enjoying the taste of rick, robust coffee, only days young. The art of roasting is one of skill, curious and the unknown.

I would like to wish everyone, a peaceful and plentiful end of year rites. Think of what you have and not want you have not, for there are those who are worse off than you. Enjoy your coffee, keep warm and always remember; the simple things in life are the best.

Winter Solstice to all!

http://www.blackgoldcoffeecompany.com

Fresh Roast...Fresh Coffee...Fair Price
www.blackgoldcoffeecompany.com

Coffee Bean Chronicles - Columbian coffee prices increase

The price of Columbian coffee has increased in the market due to the demand and the short supply of it. This should not affect the price of a good cup of Columbian coffee at this time, since the time span between the purchase and the final product is around 3-6 months from now, but as usually happens, there will be some retailers and coffee shops that will increase their coffee prices just on the wind of the word. So, if you notice that the coffee prices have increase in your favorite coffee shop, ask why! This coffee is one of the favorites for blends, espresso and plain. It is one of the biggest sellers on the coffee market.

The price increase is minimal and it should not be affect the cost of the coffee considering that a cup of coffee is around 80 cents to make.
All the reason to invest in a good coffee maker and grinder and make your own and if you are interested in the next step, learn to roast your own coffee in your home. Alot of people ask me how to make cold coffee and it is very easy. You can enjoy cold and hot this summer. To make cold coffee, select a bold coffee that can stand up to cold temps. Costa Rica SHB, Brazil Santos(very good cold) and Columbia Vintage are excellent choices. They hold their flavors and body when cold. Make the coffee in a French Press for the best results.
When your coffee is finished brewing, add cream and sugar to taste. Remember that it is hard to disolve sugar completely in cold coffee. Pour the coffee in a glass container and place it in the refrigrator. I perfer glass over plastic because I notice the taste seems fresher in glass.

So when the hot weather gets you down and you need a cold pick me up, grab a glass of ice cold coffee and enjoy.

Happy sipping and enjoy the summer....

http://www.blackgoldcoffeecompany.com
www.blackgoldcoffeecompany.com

Coffee Bean Chronicles - Coffee is not for drinking only!

The summer breeze is coming our way and what better way to enjoy your fresh roasted coffee buy over a bowl of ice cold vanilla ice cream. Nothing fancy or takes hours to make but the simple cool/cold treats that you can make.

Brew your favorite coffee. I love the rich heavy taste of a bold roast of Brazil Santos and at times the bold roast of India Monsoon Malabar mixed with decaf Guatemala Antigua. Place the coffee in the frig for chilling. Some like it black, some like it with sugar and cream and other like it with sugar, cream and a flavor to jump start their day. Summer is just around the corner and what better way to enjoy your coffee, but on ice. Yes, ice coffee is wonderful and made correctly, your preference will be ice coffee instead of tea. To make a good pitcher of coffee may take some time but it is worth the time. Brew your favorite blend or origin and store it in a container to cool down before putting it in the refrigerator. As it is cooling add the sugar and cream and any flavor that you like. I like a little rum in mine! When the coffee is at room temperature, place it in the refrigerator for later in the day for ice coffee. Can't wait... throw some ice in a cup and enjoy or pour ina chilled mug and place a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top!

The types of coffees will make a difference, so I recommend a Brazil Santos or a Costa Rica SHB EP or Costa Rica Tarrazu for a deep, rich taste; Ethiopian Yiragette or Indonesian Sumatra for lighter coffee. Many people in the coffee industry will tell you that the best roast of a certain type of coffee is the best way to enjoy it. But does everyone have the same taste buds? The answer is no. Some people may like a medium roast of African coffee while others like the bold/strong roast of the South American coffee. When shopping for the perfect coffee for you, shop around and try a good variety of roast before settling on one type roast. You may find out that the taste of a bold roast of Brazil Santos or Guatemala Antigua is your favorite or the medium roast of the delicate Tanzania Highland Peaberry or Ethiopia Yir. is more your style. Just keep in mind, your style of roast is what really counts because you are going to be drinking the coffee and not the coffee experts.

So shop around and experience the roast styles of many before making your final decision and if you think that the roast is close but maybe a little more or less, contact your roaster and ask if they can do a custom roast for you. Our company will do custom roast because we understand that not all tastebuds are the same. Home roasters, you can invent your own type of roast for your coffee.

For the best coffee prices and fresh roast(roasted per order), check http://www.blackgoldcoffeecompany.com/. This is the perfect time to enjoy a good well-balance coffee from India that is TOTALLY under the radar! The coffee jumps out with a smooth rich taste and has a wonderful coffee aftertaste. Some people have asked me about aftertaste of a good coffee. It is when the coffee taste lingers at the back of the month, has an enjoyable taste and your palatte wants more! Something like wine! This coffee is fantastic roasted bold which some people call full city. The beans have a clear dark chocolate color and smell great. The taste is not strong but it is not mild either. It is in between which makes this a good coffee for Espresso blends, for drinkers who like strong or medium balanced coffee with no milk or sugar. It is time for this coffee to be discovered in the coffee shops and at home as it can stand alone with no additives and yell with great coffee taste. India Monsoon Malabor is fantastic. This is a coffee bean that home roasters can not mess up!

India Monsoon Malabar - a diamond in the ruff!

Order some today at : www.blackgoldcoffeecompany.com

Enjoy your day and your coffee!
www.blackgoldcoffeecompany.com

Coffee Bean Chronicles - So you want good Espresso

It seems to be the 'rage' to make your own espresso these days. I guess with the ecomony on the shallow end of the pond, people are deciding what to do without. Many coffee drinkers I know are realizing that making espresso is really not that hard and takes a matter of minutes.
You don't have to spend a fortune on a espresso machine or an espresso pump for good espresso.
You can buy a 'Bialetti' and enjoy making espresso whenever you feel to the need for high caffeine. The 8oz. bialetti is under 15.00 and it is fantastic. No mess, no fuss and it is portable. I do love the pump and it is great toy but not necessary.
Now.. let's talk coffee. You DO NOT have to buy expensive blends of coffee to get a good cup of espresso. Europeans stick to the basics and we go to the extremes!! Guatamela Antigua is a perfect coffee for espresso and Brazil Santos is so smooth that when it goes down, you will want more.
Now.. you can have good blends and they are usually a South American(bold and outward) and Pacific Rim/Asia ( smooth and fruity...) They complient each other and one flavor does not overwhelm the other.
Good Espresso is smooth and leaves a good coffee taste on our palatte afterwards. It slides down your throat and wakes up your tastebuds.

oh.. one more suggestion. NEVER drink espresso 4 hours before you go to bed or you will be up all night!

Good Espresso starts with a good blend: www.blackgoldcoffeecompany.com

Happy cupping!
www.blackgoldcoffeecompany.com

Coffee Bean Chronicles - Oh the Coffee Shortage of South America

You probably heard about the shortage of coffee from South American this year. Yep... I guess there is going to be a high price to pay for coffee in the states because of the shortage, but think not. If you weight the initial cost of coffee (farmers price) to the price the consumer pays, it is around 300% . There should be no raise in coffee prices in the consumer market. There will be some coffee retailers who will increase the price just because of this situation and there are coffee retailers that will take a smaller profit but still offer the same quality of coffee. So the next time you view the price of roasted coffee or coffee green beans, look back and compare.

The BlackGold Coffee Company policy is to sell at a fair market price. We sell our coffee fresh off the roaster and never store it in storage. So, be careful when you shop and remember, an educated consumer is the best consumer!

Enjoy your coffee and happy cupping!!
www.blackgoldcoffeecompany.com

Coffee Bean Chronicles - Tanzania Highland Peaberry

The weather is finally turning to spring and the temperature is 70 degrees today. Ah.. I forget to tell t you that the Daily Sip is blogged from Atlanta, GA. Those of you who are living in 20-30 degree weather at this time, don't worry, your turn will come. This is perfect weather for a coffee that is not overwhelming in taste and glides down your throat everytime. The wonderful aroma of fresh brewed coffee and the taste just wants you to get more. What coffee is this? It is Tanzania Highland Peaberry. This coffee is becoming well known in the states because of its smooth, mellow and well balanced taste. I love it because I consider it an anytime coffee. This coffee is an African coffee, so it NOT as heavy in color ( dark, sweetheart!!) as the South American coffees but it carries a great taste. Home Roasters would enjoy this bean to the second crack and pull the beans when you see the first sign of smoke or 30 seconds after the 2nd crack. Roasting times and temp may varied and one suggestion is 460 degrees for 15 minutes.

Got you thinking about this coffee, well order the roasted or green beans from: http://www.blackgoldcoffeecompany.com/

well... the backyard is calling me, so I must move on and outdoors.
Enjoy your day and happy cupping!
www.blackgoldcoffeecompany.com

Coffee Bean Chronicles - Brazil Santos, hot coffee on a cold morning

People in Atlanta do not see alot of snow and most of the time it is cold weather and chilly rain. This past Sunday, the city received 2 inches of good packing snow during the afternoon hours. Itwas great to see the hugh snow flakes fall from the sky, dancing in the wind. It was in the 20's and not a t-shirt/short day. I made myself some fresh Brazil Santos coffee that I roasted earlier in the week. No cream or sugar, just black and it was wonderful. This bean should be roasted through the second crack and smoking! It has a rich taste that makes your taste buds want more. It is very balance, which means it does not taste bitter or weak and has very little aftertaste in the mouth, so you don't have to pop a mint in your mouth. This coffee should be more well known in the states, but the coffee cafes and stores are too narrow in their coffee selections and that is a shame. If you can try some Brazil Santos.

Happy cupping.... and enjoy the day!
http://www.blackgoldcoffeecompany.com/
www.blackgoldcoffeecompany.com

Coffee Bean Chronicles - Feburary coffee pick of the month -MMMMMMMMMMMMmm

It is a cold Altanta morning, well cold by southern standards. I brewed some bold Guatemala Antigua from a batch last week and it is rich and wonderful. No bitter taste and it is so wondeful. I need this still I am realigning my retirement portfolio. I am moving stocks to GMNA and BONDS for the year. Stocks 40, Bonds 30, GMNA 30. I think the market will crawl with min. growth uintil June and start to pick itself up. September it will start walking alittle but it will be concern over some of the debt that can not be paid back. The financial institutions will start leading under new rules of engagment, which is loan to those who can pay back. It is better to get a lower return on investment than none at all.

As I drink the coffee, it's richness is better at room temperature and not too hot. I brewed this coffee in an espresso brewer( perk!!!). I am finding out that perk is richer that drip or french press.
